David Vincent Design IS HIRING an EXPERIENCED, self-managed Project Manager/Designer to work closely with the Company Owner to successfully secure, design, and manage projects through completion. This position requires someone to interpret notes from initial client meetings and effectively turn them into a design/estimate draft and comprehensive letter and proposal to the client, and also translate the sales process into the techs’ punchlists and ensure the job moves on task, on time, on budget. This person needs to be able to, when designing, research product capabilities and pricing, specify equipment, make decisions (as there are lots of ways to do all things custom), and communicate professionally, effectively, and constantly to ensure that projects go from concept to reality to client understanding. The person must be able to run entire, simultaneous projects in a proactive and financially responsible manner. This position will be on a commission structure (tbd based on successful applicant’s experience).

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
-
The Project Manager (PM) reports to the Company owner (but is self-managed and self-motivated).
-
Technicians report to the PM on all matters pertaining to work being performed on his projects in process to include task assignments, technical assistance, job site issues and parts requirements.

AUTHORITY
-
To recommend the hiring, firing and disciplining of employees subject to approval by Company owner.
-
To authorize overtime and be responsible for labor budget to complete assigned projects on schedule.
-
To recommend and effectively implement changes in company procedures, installation practices, documentation methods, and forms of management intended to improve efficiency, productivity and profitability subject to approval by Company owner.

RESPONSIBILITIES
-
The PM is responsible for bringing in jobs on budget, on time, and on spec. and achieving 100% project completion and client satisfaction.

Maintain proper communications between the company and all parties involved in the assigned projects throughout the installation to include the client, gen. contractor, architect, interior designer, lighting designer, cabinet makers, consultants, etc.

Ensure the timely completion and delivery of project documents necessary to communicate to technicians the intended wiring design, layout, appearance and programming requirements of individual components of a project. This may include wire lists, floor plans, functional schematics, equipment layout within a cabinet, head end equipment layout, equipment spec sheets, rack layout, wall plate specifications, programming info, security zone info, lighting control system info and touch screen design.

Ensure all project documentation is at all times up-to-date, complete and accessible.

Ensure proposed system designs are complete and accurate and remain so throughout the project.

Ensure field work is scheduled appropriately, performed to a high-level of quality workmanship, and completed on both a timely and profitable basis.

Ensure photographs of wiring and system installation are uploaded to client folder on server.
-
Review end of day reports and follow up on any action items.
-
Be as thorough on “small” jobs as on “big” jobs.

Work with office administration to ensure all equipment and materials required for an assigned project are requested, staged, and delivered to site on a timely basis.

Protect company assets including tools, equipment, vehicles, and labor resources. This includes periodic management of inventory.

Maintain proper training on any products being used on assigned projects. Training may take the form of a formal training offered by the manufacturer, reading manuals, or telephone conversations with technical support personnel.

Manage the expectations of clients, general contractors, designers, consultants and other subcontractors to ensure that they remain realistic and attainable.

Manage client training process and development and delivery of comprehensive client training materials.

DUTIES
- T
ake notes from Owner’s initial client meeting and site walk-through and effectively create a Design/Estimate draft and comprehensive client proposal letter.
-
Effectively ascertain scope of project; research product capabilities and pricing, and make decisions to specify appropriate equipment.
-
Maintain proactive and regular communications, in writing as necessary, with clients, general contractors and other project representatives in order to keep others informed about job progress, budget, and schedule.
-
Provide or coordinate the provision of all project documentation.
-
Conduct regular project update meetings to communicate project timelines and issues including product ordering dates, invoicing dates, changes, additional parts needed etc.
-
Assure the continual update the project binder with meeting notes, detail drawings, product specifications, correspondence, punch lists, construction schedules, programming information, etc.

Complete initial and updated “as built” proposals in Visio.
-
Manage change orders and conduct any re-design that may be necessary due to changes in the construction or the provision of new information.
-
Schedule, coordinate, and conduct site walk through prior to wiring and at other times during the construction process as necessary.

Perform site inspections throughout the construction process and especially during and upon the completion of each phase of system installation to ensure quality control.

Provide on-site field supervision as necessary.
-
Provide installation and programming services in the final stages of the project if the technical skills and expertise you possess are required.

Solve problems that may arise on assigned projects to include improper design, product limitations, placement difficulties, product interfacing issues, etc.

Schedule labor resources as required to complete field work on schedule.
-
Schedule and conduct field project meetings as required with lead technician for the purpose of reviewing the system design, installation procedures and methodology, or programming details.

Schedule and conduct meetings with clients or their designees to review their expectations pertaining to finish details, programming, intended use, and completion schedule.

Encourage safety practices and enforce safety requirements.
-
Provide group and one-on-one training for field technicians to include encouraging self-training through the use of technical manuals, classes, books and technical support hotlines and online resources.

SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES
-
Ability to convey complex technical information verbally and in writing using professional, grammatically correct, and easy to understand language to “paint a picture” of the project to the client, contractor, etc.

Ability to display grace under pressure at all times.
-
Ability to visualize the big picture or project goal and understand the sometimes-changing steps required to achieve that goal.
-
Minimum of three years in a custom integration environment. Design and Project Management experience required. Sales experience desirable.

Must own hand tools and possess clean driving record.

Customer complaints and job site issues are resolved satisfactorily.

Project documentation is completed in detail and kept accessible internally.
